Plein Air 2025 CompetitionCanada Paints, in collaboration with Bow Valley Ranche and Swinton's Art Supply, is excited to announce its inaugural Canada Paints Plein Air Competition.

About the event
MAIN EVENT DETAILS
Eight applicants will be chosen to compete for cash prizes in a painting event. The prizes are:
- 1st place: $1,000 CAD
- 2nd place: $500 CAD
- 3rd place: $250 CAD
Artists will paint a scene of their choice in their preferred style at a designated location. Selection of applicants is based on their entry applications and images. After the painting session, judges will choose three finalists to award the prizes.
Artist Registration occurs in person on Saturday, August 9th, from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Glennfield Park in Fish Creek Provincial Park, Calgary. Participants will receive a map of painting locations, a name badge, event rules, guidelines for activities within the park, and names of committee members for assistance.
START OF COMPETITION
The competition runs from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., ending with a bullhorn signal. Judges will observe all artists' progress during both the Main Event and the Wildcard.
END OF COMPETITION
Artwork must be submitted by 3:30 pm at the registration desk. Late entries are ineligible for prizes and sale inclusion. Judges will start final deliberation at that time.
ART SALE
The art sale starts after the awards presentation and ends at 5:00 PM.

ART SALE

- Open to artists who paid an entry fee.
- Framing artwork is suggested but not required.
- Only pieces approved by the Canada Paints committee can be sold.
- The committee processes transactions and takes a 20% commission.
- Payments for prizes and sold artwork will be mailed to artists within a week after the event.
